$300 - 2 Day Clinic
Dates: November 24 - 25
Friday - 6pm to 9pm
Saturday - 9am-1pm | Lunch Break(Provided) | 2pm-6pm
The Beginners Clinic is a 2-day introductory clinic for those learning to rope for the first time. You can bring your own horse or lease one of ours if available. You do not need a finished rope horse for this clinic. Our goal by the end of this clinic is for you to understand the basic 5 steps that go into team roping, equipment, roping terminology and cattle. You will learn the fundamentals of heading and heeling and roping the dummy from the ground and from horseback. You will put a rope on a steer, track him, dally and stop him, and if you’re ready, make your first attempt at catching a live steer. Each individual will receive as much one on one instruction as required. Any age, any gender, we can teach you how to rope.
What People Are Saying About This Clinic
"I came to this clinic only knowing how to coil a rope. I left 2 days later knowing how to setup and throw a rope off a horse on a live cow. Roy showcased his excellent teaching skills by breaking down and simplifying the various steps in a very patient and welcoming atmosphere. This coupled with the practical application of roping live cows helped me develop my roping skills in a short period of time. Thank-you so much Roy for introducing and providing me the skills to enjoy a very challenging sport. You have provided some drills that I can work on to continue to build my roping skills. I would highly recommend this clinic to someone who is looking to take up roping" - Dave -
"First off I would like to thank you for putting on the Team Roping 101 clinic. I believe there really is a need for this type of beginner clinic in order to keep people coming into the sport. Team Roping is a sport that is tough to get into, and you provided a safe / friendly environment that gave me the confidence and experience in order to keep going.
Before this past weekend I was kind of in a rut, I could handle a rope on the ground but didn't know how to get to the next level / stage. I didn't feel I had the skills or confidence needed to enter any sort of organized team roping activity ie. practice night or jackpot... The simple drills you had us start with gave me the skills to progress quickly enough to be able to be making full runs on Sunday. With the small class size we were able to make as many runs as our horses could handle, which built a great deal of confidence with the gained experience. I honestly had a blast and will be trying my best to make it to some of the practice sessions you host for past students! Thanks again" - TR -
